  • Laurence completed her thesis in molecular and cellular toxicology in the INSERM U620 laboratory, under the direction of Dominique Lagadic-Gossmann, on the regulation of intracellular pH during apoptosis induced by benzo [a] pyrene, a polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon , in liver cells. She then worked as a postdoctoral fellow at Oxford University on intracellular pH in heart cells, and then at Imperial College London in the Experimental Medicine and Toxicology laboratory on apoptosis induced by anticancer agents. In October 2008, she was recruited to develop molecular and cellular studies in food toxicology. Since then, she has worked on the mitochondrial stress induced by bisphenol A, on the study of cell death and detoxication of 4-hydroxynonenal in normal and pre-cancerous colonic cells according to a process of Darwinian carcinogenesis. Since the creation of COMICS team, she works on the metabolic reprogramming upon food exposure by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbones and dioxins, related to chronic diseases, such as cancer (INCa METAhCOL project). She coordinates a project for alternative in vivo models with zebrafish (funding from Canceropole Grand Sud Ouest (Toxinzebra)). She carries out studies related to mitochondria-targeted fungicides, like succinate deshydrogenase inhibitors (SDHi). In order to set up an activity of conceptual toxicology, she is a master 2 student in logic, philosophy of sciences and philosophy of knowledge (LOPHISC) at Sorbonne-University. She is a member of the Institute for Philosophy in Biology and Medicine (PhilInBioMed) coordinated at the University of Bordeaux. She is concerned by citizen sciences and the co-construction of knowledge. She a member of the platform  Génotoul Sociétal, pluridisciplinary group dedicated to scientific public debates and bioethics. She takes part in the discussion about the dialog between academics and participatory sciences in collaboration with ALLISS and is involved in the task force of the group dealing with chronic risks and related diseases in the context of open science.

  • Elisa, a pharmacist by training, prepared a thesis in pharmaco-toxicology of G-protein coupled receptors, within Pierre Fabre Laboratories, specializing in cell signaling. After a post-doctorate at Inserm (Laboratory of Biology and Digestive Pathology) and a ATER position, Elisa was recruited as a lecturer in Toxicology in 2005 at Paul Sabatier University (Toulouse III) Faculty of Pharmacy. She first worked in epidemiology and public health, in close collaboration with the Institute of Public Health, Epidemiology and Development (ISPED) of Bordeaux in the context of occupational exposure to pesticides. In order to develop molecular epidemiology projects, Elisa joined the team of Bernard Salles at CNRS and ToxAlim in 2011, where she first studied pesticides and their ability to generate DNA damage in farmers' cohorts  by coordinating two INCA Cancer Environment projects. She has diversified her research by studying the genotoxicity of pesticides and other contaminants (e.g. titanium dioxide in nanoparticulate form) on relevant experimental models in the context of dietary exposure.

  • Dr Thierry Gauthier received in 1986 his Biochemical Engineer certificate (National Institute of Applied Sciences of Toulouse, France) and in 1989 his PhD degree (University Paul Sabatier, Toulouse, France). After obtaining his certificates, he worked for 2 years as Biochemist in a start-up company specialised in the development of recombinant proteins displaying properties preventing graft rejection. Since then, he joined INRA in 1993 and was responsible for 15 years of the Industrial Partnership and the Intellectual property within the Animal Health Division. In that view, he followed an additional training regarding contracts and intellectual property (IRPI, Paris). Since 2009, he moved to Toxalim Unit where he set up a Cell Imaging Platform equipped with a flow cytometer (MACSQuant Miltenyi) and a confocal microscope (SP8, Leica). Besides, he was involved in research projects dealing with toxic effects of mycotoxins (deoxynivalenol, trypacidine, patuline, Versicolorine A) and 4-hydroxynonenal. He recently joined the team Comics (April 2018) where he is involved in the study of cell response driving cell death to food contaminants such as pesticides..

  • After obtaining a bachelor’s degree of Cell Biology and Animal Physiology at the University Paul Sabatier of Toulouse, Liana continued her studies by a BioSanté master's degree specialized in "Digestive Health and Nutrition" at University Paul Sabatier of Toulouse. Liana is PhD student in the team and studies the impact of food contaminants on metabolic reprogramming.

  • After graduating as an Agricultural Engineer at the Universidad Nacional de Asuncion (2013) in Paraguay, followed by a first job at Cargill company, Carolina has decided to continue her studies with the Master Nutrition and Food Science (mention «Health risk analyses related to food») at AgroParisTech (Master internship in Toxalim, with Thierry Gauthier). Carolina is currently PhD student with a joint doctoral program between Toxalim and INSERM UMR-S 1124 (Paris), she studies the impact of SDHi fungicides (succinate dehydrogenase inhibitors) on metabolic reprogramming and epigenetic reprogramming.
